Color is definitely a very important element of web design, and if you are familiar with the Color Theory used in visual arts, you may know that even with a lot of studies, the reaction to colors is pretty subjective and people react differently. Some reactions are based on background, others are based on personal taste and even psychological feelings. The color theory is actually a science that helps us design our projects, and it’s certainly something to consider when creating a website.

Thanks for the article, you listed good number of sites. Among the listed sites I found the Half of Us was too warm. Color is a vast subject to strategically plan, and it helps in many aspects of a site interface. Working with few planned colors is best to get a feel of simplicity.

Ahhh you can’t beat the typography IMO that is what is working for me in the majority of these designs though for sure they feature great colour and layout with interesting copy provoking the interaction.

Nice colours indeed, but perfect?

How many of these colour combinations were tested against w3c accessibility standards? How many would pass?

May seem a bit nit-picky to some (not to the visually impaired), but if you want to use the word ‘perfect’…
